Biography
Jim Ryun is a former Congressman from Kansas's Second District. Before Congress, Ryun owned and operated Jim Ryun Sports Inc., a public relations company. He is perhaps most famous as a runner, having set, in 1965, the male high school record for the mile, of 3:55.3, which stood for 36 years.
He has been implicated in the Jack Abramoff scandal. He was defeated by Nancy Boyda in 2006, see Kansas U.S. House election, 2006.
