• Taos Pueblo leaders are jailed for participating in ceremonies that the state deemed pagan, sadistic and obscene.
• Britain transfers contol over Atafu, Nukunonu and Fakaofo, the three Pacific coral atolls comprising Tokelau, to New Zealand.
• French West African colonial authorities adopt Fifteen Year Plan imposing corvee or conscript labor scheme with 3 years of mandatory service building public works.
• Father Coughlin, the anti-semitic radio priest, makes his first radio broadcast.
• Robert Goddard tests his first liquid fuel rocket.
• Antanas Smetona overthrows democratic government of Lithuania and establishes a personal dictatorship.
• Bengali novelist Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay publishes Pather Dabi (The Road's Demand), which is immediately banned as seditious by the British colonial government of India.

• May 23: Future South African Communist Party leader Joe Slovo is born in Obeliai, Lithuania.
• May 28: Fascist coup in Portugal establishes the Estado Novo or New State.
• August 27-January 3, 1927: Another 1926 U.S. military intervention in Nicaragua.
• October: Fourth unsuccessful assassination attempt on Italian Fascist dictator Benito Mussolini.
• October 20: Eugene V. Debs dies.
• November: Italian Fascist State issues decree of public safety urgin surveillance of dissent. The death penalty is also adopted for any attacks on "the Duce" or members of the Italian royal family.
