Zalmay Khalilzad
From dKosopedia
Zalmay Khalilzad is the Ambassador to Iraq. He will be nominated to be the United States Ambassador to the United Nations. Khalilzad is an ethnic Pastun Afghan-American, a Sunni Muslim, and part of the neo-conservative clique that has squandered U.S. military victories in Afghanistan and Iraq by organizing corrupt and incompetent occupations. Khalilzad played a prominent role in both occupations as ambassador.
A long term advisor to Donald Rumsfeld who became the second Bush administration's special envoy to Afganistan after the fall of the Taliban, Khalilzad was also a special envoy to the Iraqi opposition to Saddam Hussein. Khalilzad has written about information warfare, and in 1996 (pre-Taliban), he worked as a consultant to the oil company Unocal Corporation (UNOCAL) regarding a "risk analysis" for its proposed pipeline project through Afghanistan and Pakistan.
