User talk:Sysop
From dKosopedia
Can you clarify the copyright status of dKosopedia at dKosopedia:Copyrights, please? There's currently an article of yours used on Wikipedia and we're trying to figure out if it's GFDL or not. (BTW, that vandal was not Curps; Curps is a well-respected sysop on Wikipedia.) --Rory096 14:15, 8 May 2006 (PDT)
- Yes, it's GNU. We recently upgraded the MediaWiki software from a 1.2 version to the current, and the new way to display the license was never enabled. -- Centerfielder 14:51, 8 May 2006 (PDT)

- A method to report vandalism
- During the last attack (curps) it was difficult as a new user to determine what action to take. I could find no place to through which to notify sysops. So, I propose (following the Wikipedia model):
- Create a page Dkosopedia:Administrators as a place to create the following subpages:
- NoticeBoard
- This page would be used by sysops & admins to record their actions: attack responses, upgrades, banishment of users, etc.
- Incidents
- Used for reporting of vandalism, etc. This should be linked from the the Policy pages and possibly the front page. And of course all admins/sysops should set watches on this page so they get notifications.
- Disputes
- Used to report editing disputes - a public forum for dispute resolution.
- The Dkosopedia:Administrators page itself would be used to explain the uses of the subpages and possibly explanation of other site related policy issues.
- Rules for fixing vandalism Fixing Vandalism??
- I was very reluctant to help User:Dmsilev in reverting curps' moves - What if we both moved a page at the same time? I performed some experiments on my own wikis and found some disturbing results (which I won't discuss in public - contact me for details).
- Help pages
- Given time I'll put together something for the newbie - Does this need to be extensive or can we live with a quick reference with links into either mediawiki or wikipedia for substantive help?
Good suggestions. Let's think about it over the weekend. At the moment, I'm inclined to agree on the separation between "disputes" and "incidents," but i'm not sure that disputes should be relegated to a single place. That place might fill up in a hurry. I'd like to know more about how Wikipedia handles this. -- Centerfielder 21:51, 12 May 2006 (PDT)
- No real objections. I would suggest all such pages be categorized as [[Category:Admin talk]], and that anyone interested make themselves aware of the category. For the moment, however, things are quite slow here; I suspect they will heat up by September, however. --Allamakee Democrat 22:52, 12 May 2006 (PDT)
--Jake 23:02, 12 May 2006 (PDT) How 'bout:
- Category:Admin with sub categories:
- Category:Incident
- Category:Vandalism
- Category:Dispute(s)
--Jake 23:02, 12 May 2006 (PDT) Incident
