Scottish Socialist Party

The Scottish Socialist Party (SSP) was formed in 1998 by various members of the Scottish Socialist Alliance, including Scottish Militant Labour, the Scottish Republican Socialist Party, and the Communist Party of Scotland. The SSP supports a Marxist economic platform and favors Scottish independence. In 1999 the SSP won one of the seats in the first Scottish Parliamentary election. In the second election of 2003 the SSP gained an additional five seats.
