Nestor Garcia

Councilmember Nestor R. Garcia represents District 9 on the Honolulu City Council. Council district 9 includes Waikele, Waipahu, Village Park, Makakilo, Kunia, and Mililani Town.
Garcia was one of two Filipino Democratic party primary candidates for the 2nd U.S. House District seat. The other is Ron Menor. There are approximately 275,000 Hawaiians of Filipino ancestry. Both candidates were unsuccessful in the 2006 primary.
According to the Sierra Club Legislative Environmental Scorecards, Menor has a very poor to fair environmental voting record [1].
Prior to becoming a councilmember, Nestor Garcia, served as a representative to the Hawaii State Legislature for eight years. Before politics, Garcia was a news reporter for KHON TV Fox 2 for ten years.
