Mark Kennedy

Mark Kennedy represented the 6th District of the State of Minnesota which covers all of Benton, Sherburne and Wright Counties and most of Anoka, Stearns and Washington Counties. He was first elected in 2000 but he gave up his seat in 2006 to make an unsuccessful run for U.S. Senate, see Minnesota U.S. Senate election, 2006.

Kennedy was born in Benson, Minnesota and grew up in Murdock and Pequot Lakes. He received a degree in Accounting from St. John’s University. After college, he worked as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and received a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Michigan.

Mark and his wife Debbie, a former public school educator, met as State 4-H Ambassadors and recently celebrated their 25 th anniversary. They reside in Watertown, Minnesota and have two children in college and two in high school.
