Jeff Gannon
From dKosopedia
"Jeff Gannon" (sometimes cited in news transcripts as Geoff Gannon) whose real name appears to be James Guckert was a White House-credentialed fake news reporter "Jeff Gannon" from fake news agency Talon News which appears to be more a political organization than a media outlet. On Valentine’s Day,2004, AmericaBlog.org posted new evidence indicating that Mr. Guckert not only constructed those gay-play-for-pay sites, but worked as a gay male escort himself—and continued to do so even after he got his first White House press pass in 2003. He was cited by the Washington Post as possibly having access to an alleged internal CIA memo that named Joseph Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame, as a covert CIA agent. He was well-known for asking loaded pro-Republican questions at White House press briefings.
"Gannon" himself is a registered user at Free Republic and has made various boasts on those boards about being involved in "breaking" various stories, including (but certainly not limited to) the CBS memos regarding Bush's service in TANG and the "fact" that liberals want to eliminate Christmas. Bobby Eberle who owns Talon, posts on Free Republic as well, and "Gannon" has his own weekly radio program on "Righttalk," owned by rightwing activist Bob Johnson, long-time member and former president of Free Republic Institute streamed through Free Republic.

In the interesting case of the paid GOP blogger in the smear campaign against former Sen. Tom Daschle, in a race against John Thune, "Gannon" was the chief "news source" cited, creating the surreal case (as one commenter noted) of a fake blog citing a fake reporter from a fake news agency.
On February 9, 2005, "Gannon" resigned from Talon News and shut down his website www.jeffgannon.com after scrutiny into his background began in ernest by numerous blogs including the Daily Kos, Eschaton, and news orgnaizations began to report the story.
