Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004

The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 was passed on December 17, 2004, based on the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission. It reorganized the US Intelligence Community, and created the post of United States Director of National Intelligence. It amends the National Security Act of 1947.

This bill was initially opposed by President George W. Bush, but he eventually changed his mind.
