STATE CONSTITUTIONAL OFFICERS

Governor: Mark Warner (D)
Lt. Governor: Tim Kaine (D)
Attorney General: Jerry Kilgore (R)
Acting Attorney General: Judith Jadgmann (R)

  • Jerry Kilgore resigned February 1, 2005, to avoid a campaign fund-raising restriction that applies to sitting state officials. He is a candidate for Governor.
  • Article V of the state constitution prevents a sitting governor from serving more than one consecutive term, so Warner is not eligible to succeed himself. This restriction does not apply to the lieutenant governor nor to the attorney general.
