Steve Soto is a left-wing political blogger who founded the website The Left Coaster in February 2003. Before he created that website, he was a commenter and guest poster on Daily Kos.

At the time this article was written, Steve was five months into a six-month sabbatical from his web site in order to devote more time to non-blog writing.

Steve Soto on Daily Kos

Steve's first comment on Daily Kos was on September 30, 2002, responding to Markos's diary Toricelli calling it quits?; the comment thread link is here, and the comment was signed "Steve Soto". He made two comments to that diary.

Posted Comments

He commented fairly frequently that first month: two more that day, a total of twenty-nine before October was over, and increased the pace as the year finished up.

A list of links to Steve Soto's Daily Kos comments can be found on the Steve Soto Comments page; eventually, this page should have a complete list of all comment threads that Steve contributed to.

Guest Posting

On January 3, 2003, Markos announced that Steve Soto would be one of two guest posters, along with Billmon, while Markos was waist-deep in other projects, including the launch of the Political State Report website. Billmon wrote two posts that day and Steve the next, and he and Steve shared guest blogging duties for two weeks. Steve then took on three solo guest blogging stints in late January and early and mid February; the last of these was his final set of front-page posts, made from Wednesday, February 19 through Friday, February 21. He first posted to his new blog, The Left Coaster, two days later.

A list of links to all of Steve Soto's Daily Kos front-page posts can be found on the Steve Soto Posts page.

Steve Soto's Other Writing

The vast majority of Steve's writing was on The Left Coaster; the site's archives are still available, and are searchable.

Information on the rest of his writing will have to await further contributions to this page.
