Stephen Hadley is the National Security Advisor to the President of the United States. He replaced Condoleezza Rice when she was promoted to be United States Secretary of State. As such, he is the top presidential advisor to George W. Bush on military and diplomatic issues, and a member of the National Security Council. He has so far taken a lower profile role in the administration than his predecessor, but is believed to have played an important part in the Niger uranium scandal and the Plame affair. Mr. Hadley has supported developing "bunker-buster" nuclear bombs.

He was the Deputy National Security Advisor from 2001-2004, before he was promoted to National Security Advisor. He also held senior posts under Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.
