Guru Nanak founded the Sikh religion in the 1500s who was followed by ten Guru's the last of whom declared himself to be the last human Guru. The vast majority of the world's 19 million Sikhs live in Punjab India. The faith has elements of Hinduism and Islam (in this region on the fringes of Pakistan and India). The external practices of the religious order of Sihks known as the Kahlsa, namely: an uncut hair and beard with a turban, use of a wooden comb, specially made cotton underwear, a steel circle worn on the wrist, and the carrying of a small dagger on one's person, distinguish Sihks in the popular eye. An introduction to the main elements of the Sihk faith can be found here.
