Melissa Hart is the Republican who once "represented" the 4th Congressional District of Pennsylvania (2000-2007). Hart was defeated by Democratic candidate Jason Altmire in the 2006 mid-term election in an upset.

Prior to her election to the House, Hart was a State Senator for 10 years. She had the distinct honor of being one of only 36 House members (including wingnuts-extraordinaire Tom DeLay and Pat Toomey) to score a perfect ZERO on the League of Conservation Voters 2003 National Environmental Scorecard.

She also joined fellow bigots in scoring a perfect ZERO on the Human Rights Campaign's Congressional Scorecard.

Republican Hart has recieved an Hero of Taxpayers Award from the Americans for Tax Reform. She proudly sponsored the "Consumer Product Protection Act", which penalizes individuals who insert illicit and pornographic materials into packaged food goods, which was signed into law. She also a sponsor of the "Unborn Victims of Violence Act."

Hart voted against the environment on five recent important legialative roll call votes: Energy (House R.C. 132); Artic Refuge (House R.C. 666); Environmental Funding (House R.C. 88); Coastal Protection (House R.C. 192) and Fuel Efficiency (House R.C. 121).
