Matt W. Windschitl

Matt W. Windschitl is a Republican veteran from Iowa, who represents District 56 in the Iowa State House, see Iowa State House elections, 2006.

Windschitl was a political unknown before this race; however he defeated a five year incumbent in the primary. He won by running an unprecedented TV ad campaign in the closing days of the election. Windschitl was endorsed by by Iowans for Tax Relief and the Iowa Right to Life Committee, who poured money into his primary campaign.

Windschitl is a Marine Reservist and Iraq War veteran, who is employed as a gunsmith at his family's business. He and his wife Ivy have two young children.
