Chuck Grassley

Charles Ernest "Chuck" Grassley was born in New Hartford, Iowa on Sept. 17, 1933. He received a B.A. in 1955 and M.A. in 1956 in Political Science from the University of Northern Iowa. In 1958, he was elected to the Iowa House of Representatives and to the U.S. House in 1974. In 1980, he defeated John Culver for a seat in the U.S. Senate.

He is the grandfather of Pat Grassley.
