Allan Bloom (1930-1992) - Committee on Social Thought, University of Chicago; The most famous student of (Leo) Strauss, primarily because of his best-selling book The Closing of the American Mind. Bloom studied under Strauss at Chicago, and taught at Cornell University, the University of Toronto and, like Strauss, on the Committee on Social Thought at Chicago. Author of many books, including Love and Friendship, Giants and Dwarfs, and Shakespeare's Politics.
