Yaqoob Qureshi is a bloody minded politician in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. On February 19, the Minister of Minority Welfare made a grab for public attention by offering $14 million reward to any witless fanatic who beheads one of the Danish cartoonists who outraged some Muslims by depicting the Prophet Mohammed. He also said that the pious assassin would receive his weight in gold. Qureshi made the offer during a political rally in his constituency in Meerut, northeast of Delhi. Source: n.a. India and especially Uttar Pradesh suffer from other problems that blowhard Qureshi might focus on. For example, the 2000-2002 illiteracy rate for women between the ages of 15-24 is a shocking 35%, the 2002-2003 infant mortality rate in India is a heartbreaking 63 per 1000, and child malnutrition for children under 5 years of age in India is a tragic 46.5%. But instead he seems much too busy appealing to the religious hatreds of his least intelligent constituents.
