Will Pryor

Will Pryor was the 2006 Democratic candidate for the 32nd Congressional District of Texas TX-32. He lost to Republican incumbent Pete Sessions to represent the northwest Dallas district.
Background
Pryor grew up in Dallas as the son of a Presbyterian minister and attended public schools in the 32nd Congressional District. In 1978 he graduated from Yale University with a major in Political Science, whic he was Chair of the Yale Colelge Council, and in 1981 he received his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
An associate of Thompson & Knight from 1981-1986, and Of Counsel to the Winstead Sechrest & Minick firm in 1987, Pryor was a partner in Taft & Pryor, a general civil litigation firm from 1988 to 1991. He has been twice recognized as one of the "Best Lawyers in Dallas" in D Magazine, and three times named a "Texas SuperLawyer: in Texas Monthly Magazine. Will has mediated and arbitrated over 1,500 cases, ranging from employment, contract, business, insurance, tort, among other matters.
Pryor is a former Texas state district judge (298th District Court, Dallas County). He served as the First Assistant Attorney General of the State of Texas from 1991 to 1994, with reponsibility for overseeing the vast array of legal functions of the Office of Attorney General.
Pryor and his wife Ellen Smith Pryor have two daughters, ages 17 and 14. Lindsey is a senior, and Emily a reshman, at Ursuline Academy.
Affiliations
- Elder in the Presbyterian Church and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. In the spirit of ecumenicism, the Pryor family also regularly attends and worships at St. Monica Catholic Church.
- Co-founder with Judge Merrill Hartman of the South Dallas Legal Clinic, a free legal clinic for the poor.
- Trustee of the Winston School of Dallas.
