Washington Institute for Near East Policy

From dKosopedia

The Waahington Institute for Near East Policy' (WINEP) is a pro-Israeli think tank/lobby in Washington established in 1985 by Martin Indyk, who had previously served as research director of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (Aipac). Originally supportive of the Israeli Labour Party, it later sought the rightist Likud as a patron. The term Near East was favored by British imperialists in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
