Dr. Vernon James Ehlers is a Republican Representative from the 3rd district of Michigan. He was elected to Congress in a 1993 special election. He was a county commissioner, and he was a member of the Michigan state house of representatives from 1983-1985, and a member of the Michigan state senate from 1985-1993.
Ehlers has a Ph.D. in physics. He and his wife Johanna have four children and four grandchildren.
