Outlook

Ford coasted to victory in the August 3 primary, while Corker won the Republican primary over Bryant and Hilleary. Ford's campaign is not being helped by the historic and recent corruption charges surrounding his extended family (see Harold Ford, Jr.). Meanwhile, Corker has been criticized for making millions by selling wetland to WalMart, while he was mayor of Chattanooga. The final November race is expected to be extremely close; the seat is regarded as a must-win if the Democrats are to have any hope of recapturing the Senate.
