Lorentz “Scott” Bruun is the state representative for Oregon House District 37 which covers West Linn, Tualatin, Lake Oswego, Stafford and parts of Tigard.

Background
Bruun is vice president and chief financial officer for Lorentz Bruun Co., Inc (“LBC”) a Portland-based commercial general contractor founded by his grandfather and namesake, Lorentz Bruun. The company focuses primarily on commercial, medical office, and restoration construction services. Prior to joining LBC, Bruun spent over ten years in commercial and corporate banking. Most recently, Bruun was vice president for Key Bank’s Portland Corporate Banking & Finance Group. Bruun has also served as associate director for The Bank of Nova Scotia’s corporate finance group.
He currently serves as an appointed board member of the Clackamas County Economic Development Commission; board member of the Oregon Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation; vice president of the Oregon Chapter of the Theodore Roosevelt Association; board member of the Dorchester Conference; and board member for the Oregon Republican Leadership Institute. Scott is a 2004 graduate of Leadership Portland, a competitive leadership development program sponsored by the Portland Business Alliance and has also served as public relations chair for the Oregon Diabetes Coalition.
In his spare time, Bruun enjoys mountain climbing, scuba diving, fishing, running, weight training, playing electric guitar, reading and book collecting. He is married to Alison, a development and event professional with Legacy Health System and Meridian Park Hospital. They have two daughters and live in West Linn.
Education
Bruun has a B.A. degree in political science from the University of Oregon in Eugene, and an MBA degree (international finance emphasis) from Portland State University. Prior to both, Scott graduated from Lincoln High School in Portland, Oregon.
Poltical Career
Bruun was a candidate and Republican nominee for U.S. congress in OR-03 in 1996, losing to Earl Blumenauer. In that race he supported moving towards a flat-tax, privatizing Social Security, eliminating the estate tax and eliminating taxes on investments. Several years later, Bruun served as the State Volunteer Co-Coordinator for the 2000 Bush-Cheney campaign in Oregon.
He was elected to the State House in the 2004 General Election beating Democratic candidate Jim Morton. Brunn was formally sworn into this position in January of 2005. In the 2005 Legislative Session, Scott served as vice-chair of the House Trade & Economic Development Committee, and also served on both the Transportation and Veterans’ Affairs committees.
He was re-elected in 2006 beating Democratic candiate Bev Bacca. In the 2007 session he is serving as vice-chair on the Health Care Subcommittee On Health Policy, and serving on the Revenue Committee.
