Human Rights Issues
- The Swedish Migration Board granted political asylum to Romanian national Gregorian Bivolaru, a yoga instructor who leads the Movement for the Spiritual Integration into the Absolute (MISA). The Swedish Supreme Court had earlier approved the refusal of the Swedish government to extradite Bivolaru because his prosecution appeared the result of religious persecution. Some of the "facts" supporting the Romanian request for extradition were merely accusations leveled at him in the Romanian parliament. Source: Teresa Kuchler. - Mihail Kogalniceaneu Airbase is widely suspected to have served as a secret CIA transit prison for persons kidnapped in extraordinary renditions. See the Secret Prisons Timeline.
