Philip Forgit

Philip Forgit is a Democratic teacher and veteran from Virginia. He ran for Congress in a 2007 special election, but lost to Rob Wittman (R) thanks to smear [1].


Forgit is a Veteran of the Iraq War, where he was awarded a Bronze Star. He is also an acclaimed teacher who won the 2005 National Education Association (NEA) Foundation Award for Teaching Excellence.

He ran for the Virginia House of Delegates in 2003, but lost to the incumbent.

Forgit is a graduate of the College of William and Mary with a B.A. in History ’89 and an M.A. in Elementary Education ’95. He lives in Williamsburg with his wife, Dawn, also a school teacher, and their three children. They attend Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church.
