Paul Vierling

Paul Vierling, a business consultant, was appointed to the Hawaii State Board of Education by Governor Linda Lingle on May 6, 2005 fill the Windward Oahu seat recently vacated by Laura Thielen. Laura Thielen resigned in March of 2005 to become director of the Hawaii State Office of Planning. Vierling's term ends in 2006.

Vierling owns and operates the consultancy PMS Inc.

Vierling is a volunteer with the Hawaii State Parent Teacher Student Association.

Vierling has voiced solid support for Act 51, the state law that phases in greater school-level control over funding and decision-making.

Vierling, according to the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, "is one of only two board members who have children in the state public school system, board Chairman Breene Harimoto being the other.
