Patrick T. McHenry is a Republican Congressman from North Carolina, where he represents the 10th District.
He remains proud of his friendship with disgraced Majority Leader Tom DeLay, and when DeLay named him as one of three members most likely to become "the next DeLay", McHenry said "I'm blown away ... I'm so excited that Tom DeLay would say that about me."
Mark Foley Scandal
McHenry attempted to go on the attack about the Mark Foley scandal by urging that Democrats be investigated to see whether they leaked the explicit e-mails to gain a political advantage before the elections, although the lawmaker acknowledged he had no evidence indicating that was the case. Democratic Representative Charles Rangel responded to McHenry's nonsense with, "I think it's ridiculous. But if I was in a bind, as the Republicans are now, I guess I would be reaching for straws. But it's sad." Source: Hope Yen. "Report: GOP Lawmaker Warned Foley in '00." Associated Press. October 9, 2006.
