Nick J. Rahall II

Nicholas Joe Rahall II is a member of the Democratic Party and represents the 3rd Congressional District of West Virginia in the House of Representatives. He was first elected to the House in 1977. Rahall was born May 20, 1949 in Beckley, West Virginia, and he is of Lebanese descent.

Rahall has been a delegate to four Democratic National Conventions: 1972, 1976, 1980, 1984.

A 33rd degree Mason, Rahall is a life member of the National Rifle Association, Elks, Moose, and the NAACP, and was made an honorary member of the United Mine Workers of America in 2003.. Before his election to the Congress, Rahall served as a staff assistant to U.S. Senator Robert C. Byrd, and as a businessman. He is married to the former Melinda Ross of Ashland, Kentucky, and they have three children.

Anti-Wind Power

In 2007, Rahall introduced a bill that would ban the use of wind turbines to produce electric power. (Source: NEW ANTI-WIND LEGISLATIVE PROVISION WOULD MAKE IT A CRIME TO PRODUCE CLEAN WIND ENERGY).
