Mississippi U.S. House 1st district special election, 2008

From dKosopedia

Wikipedia has an article on:

Former U.S. Rep. Roger Wicker (R) was appointed to the U.S. Senate on Jan. 1, 2008. This election will choose his successor in Mississippi's first district.

This is a very Republican district, but Childers edged out Davis in the primary. Unfornately, he didn't quite get 50%, so there was a runoff election. Childers won the runoff by 53-47%, even after a heavy negative ad attack.

This election has been described as "seismic" by reporters.

It also left scorch marks on Republicans.
