Mike McIntyre is a Democrat from North Carolina. McIntyre was born in Robeson County, graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1978, and from the same college's law school in 1981.

McIntyre is generally considered a rather conservative Democrat, though he is probably more left-leaning than Gene Taylor; he is generally pro-life and pro-gun, but his stances on civil liberties, labor, and the environment have drited steadily leftward since his first election in 1996.
