Main Page Questions/Issues

--Centerfielder 19:49, 4 May 2004 (PDT) I've been pretty busy lately, but from spending some time at the MediaWiki and Wikipedia (and related) sites I have a couple of observations and requests.

The Wikipedia people have a meta.wikipedia.org wiki, for meta discussions about all their wikis. That is overkill for us at this point, of course, but this page is quickly becoming unweildy. I've renamed this page from "Meta" to "Meta_Main"; does anyone have any time to refactor this out into Meta_Topic pages based on the discussions so far?

--Pyrrho 00:10, 5 May 2004 (PDT) sounds good... not sure when I have time, but if it doesn't get done by the next time I edit I'm willing.

I've noticed that active MediaWiki/Wikipedia developers each have their own ToDo list page, on which others make requests and to which they respond. That doesn't sound like too bad an idea. Any thoughts?

--Pyrrho 00:10, 5 May 2004 (PDT) I like it. I sort of think of my Pyrrho page that way (don't care to have/write a bio), and you can leave comments to me there, but I do see why it makes sense to separate a dynamic page from a more static page in general. I'll try to remember to create one.

I'm going to be playing with the page layout tonight or maybe tomorrow - I'd like to put the lefthand links in dailykos.com style border boxes. This will probably necessitate widening that div section a bit, and it'll look a bit funny until I've got it all set, but it'll be more koslike. It also then makes sense to take away the option to pick a "skin", since I'm not going to go modifying all the .css files out there. Any objections?

Though I have no objection to a Kossary, I would like to point out that Kos is short for Markos, so it has a long "O" sound instead of a short "A" sound like glossary has. Ok, so I'm nitpicking. (-Jeff Weger(je)son. yes you are.)

--Pyrrho 00:10, 5 May 2004 (PDT) thing is they named it over at dKos, I have no feelings about the name, but I think the project is great, and it's already named, no reason to have it be anything different is my feeling.

I know Jeff's been working on an alternate front page; I've had some thoughts on that as well, and might be able to create a mock-up tonight if the kids will go to bed with a minimum of fuss. I'm not holding my breath.

-Jeff Weger(je)son 20:56, 4 May 2004 (PDT) I have no ego attachment to what I've done. It's there to see what it looks like and get a feel to see if it makes sense. I've added headings and a TOC to this page prepatory to splitting it off as separate pages. I have also begun deleting some of my own obsolete comments.
