L. Ron Hubbard was a science-fiction author. His book "Dianetics" lead to his founding of Scientology.

On April 29, 2007 Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney answered a Fox News interviewer's question about his favorite novel with "Battlefield Earth," a science fiction novel written by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard.
