Ken Lucas

Ken Lucas was the Democratic Representative for the 4th District of Kentucky from 1998 to 2004. He chose not to run in 2004, but he tried for a comeback in 2006, losing to the incumbent, see Kentucky U.S. House election, 2006.

Background

Lucas was born in Kenton County, Ky., August 22, 1933. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1955; recieved an MBA from Xavier University in 1970 and was a U.S. Air Force officer from 1955 to 1967, retiring as a major.

Political Career

Florence, Ky., city councilman, 1967-1974; Boone County, Ky., commissioner, 1974-1982; Boone County, Ky., judge-executive, 1992-1998. [1]

Elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Sixth and to the two succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1999- January 3, 2005); not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Ninth Congress in 2004. [2]

On January 30, 2006, he filed papers to run for his old seat again, stating that "over the last year, I’ve grown concerned about the widespread public corruption news coming from the Congress and the increased partisanship in the U.S. House of Representatives". He is one of the Fighting Dems.
