Joy Padgett

From dKosopedia

Joy Padgett is a former Republican State Senator from Ohio, who ran for Congress in the 18th District seat vacated by Robert W. Ney, but she lost to Zack Space, see Ohio U.S. House election, 2006. Earlier in 2006, she ran for Lt. Gov. on a ticket with Attorney General Jim Petro, who lost the primary to Ken Blackwell.

Before entering the State Senate, she was the Director of the Office of Appalachia for Gov. Taft. She also served four terms in the State House.

During her 2004 re-election campaign for her second term in the State Senate, she ran against Terry Anderson, who spent several years as a hostage of Islamic radicals in Lebannon during Reagan's presidency. Padgett smeared Anderson and said he was soft of terrorism and part of the "Blame America crowd".

In 2005, Padgett and her husband declared bankruptcy for their office supply business. (Source: Buckeye State Blog)
