John Cornyn is a Republican US Senator from Texas, 2003-present. Served as Texas' first Republican Attorney General since Reconstruction before making a bid for the seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Phil Gramm. In the 2002 election, defeated former Dallas mayor Ron Kirk and secured victory.
When he was the Attorney General of Texas, he conferred the "lawman of the year" award to the notorious policeman who arrested 1/3 of the African-American population in the Tulia incident.
Recently, Cornyn has come under fire for comparing same-sex marriages to a bizarre union of humans and box turtles.
