Jim Bunning

Jim Bunning is a Republican Senator from Kentucky. Bunning's behavior has been increasingly erratic, and he publically denied charges of senility during his very close 2004 re-election campaign against Daniel Mongiardo.

Political Career

Bunning served on the Ft. Thomas City Council 1977-1979, and he was a member of the Kentucky State senate 1979-1983. He was elected to the U.S. House from 1986-1998, then he was elected to the United States Senate in 1998 and reelected in 2004.

Votes

Bunning was one of only two Senators who voted against confirming Robert M. Gates as the Secretary of Defense (because Gates wasn't conservative enough).
