At a Senate hearing on Abu Ghraib, May 2004:

"As I watch this outrage, this outrage everyone seems to have about the treatment of these prisoners . . . I'm probably not the only one up at this table that is more outraged by the outrage than we are by the treatment.

In the same month, talking to The Oklahoman, Inhofe called the Abu Ghraib tortures "unfortunate," but said we had to look at them "on a relative basis":

"In America, let's don't look at it through our eyes. What we might consider abusive treatment, they might think they've died and gone to heaven," Inhofe said, referring to the prisoners.

He also said he was upset that the Armed Services Committee wasn't informed about the investigations into the abuse.

In a January 2005 telephone interview with Bloomberg News about the Clear Skies Act of 2005, Inhofe said that global warming is:

"the second-largest hoax every played on the American people, after the separation of church and state." And that: "Carbon dioxide certainly will not be part of Clear Skies. It is not a pollutant. Clear Skies deals only with pollutants."
