Immigration and Naturalization Service
From dKosopedia
The Immigration and Nationalization Service (INS) was an agency of the United States Department of Justice. It was the lead agency responsible for the enforcement and appliation of the Immigration And Nationalty Act (INA) which governs all matters of citizenship, nationality, alienage and immigration status in the United States
The Immigration and Nationalization Service (INS) was so unpopular it has ceased to exist. With the passage of the National Strategy for Homeland Security and the Homeland Security Act of 2002 the INS's components have either been swallowed by the Department of Homeland Security or orphaned under the United States Department of Justice.
