Hurricane Katrina refugee

From dKosopedia

The Hurricane Katrina refugee situation, numbers, statistics, interviews, names, belong here. For more general discussion see Hurricane Katrina commentary. Debate Hurricane Katrina issues in general on that page not this one! This one is about the specific rights of the refugees from New Orleans and other places, how their needs are to be met, what their prospects are.

Presently at least a dozen states are hosting at least 100,000 refugees. The state of Texas and Louisiana have more than any other.

The term:evacuee is being used by the Bush Administration in order to sidestep rights these people have that they can claim from the UNHCR and other bodies that track and help refugees, in particular, to refuse foreign help at all.
