On January 4, 2007, the House Rules Package (H.Res. 6) was passed which changed the name of the Committee to the "Committee on Science and Technology" to more accurately reflect its broad jurisdiction in the areas of science, research and technology. Please see Free Government Information (FGI) for more news on this name change. Note: I am one of the volunteers for FGI, but am not the author of the blog post.
