Harry E. Mitchell,born in Phoenix, Arizona, July 18, 1940 is the Democratic congressman from Arizona's Fifth District. He is a former mayor of Tempe and a former State Senator. He was first elected to Congress in 2006.
He was the chairman of the Arizona Democratic Party, voted in August 2005 after former Chairman Jim Pederson resigned to run for US Senate in Arizona against Jon Kyl. Senator Mitchell resigned from Chairman to run for Congress in Arizona's Fifth District, see Arizona U.S. House election, 2006.
