Ginny Brown-Waite, a Republican, has served the 5th Congressional District, (FL-05), of Florida since 2003. Presently serving her forth term in office, Rep. Brown-Waite announced her intention to not run for reelection.
In the 111th Congress, Brown-Waite became a member of the Ways and Means Committee and relinquished her seats on her previous committees. On the Ways and Means Committee, Rep. Brown-Waite serves on the Social Security and Health Subcommittees.
During the 109th Congress, Brown-Waite was a Co-Chair of the Congressional Women’s Caucus, a bi-partisan group of women members of the U.S Congress that meets regularly to promote a host of issues important not only to women, but to families and citizens alike.
Brown-Waite is the Co-Chair of the Unexploded Ordinances Caucus, a bi-partisan group of Members of Congress that seeks ways to clean up former military training sites
Rep. Brown-Waite is Chair of the Congressional Concrete Caucus, an organization that promotes issues of importance to American concrete users and producers, many of whom are in Florida’s 5th District.
Brown-Waite is a native of Albany, New York and an alumna of The State College System. She received her Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Russell Sage College and holds a Labor Studies Program Certification from Cornell University. She is a mother to three adult daughters and a grandmother of three grandsons and one granddaughter. Her husband, Harvey, is a retired New York State trooper and together he and Ginny own an MG and are members of the Suncoast MG Club. They reside in Crystal River with their Butler their dog.
