General Assembly

The General Assembly is the principal deliberative organ of the United Nations. Each Member State has one vote and there is no veto. The General Assembly can recommend, but not direct, action to the Security Council. The General Assembly elects non-permanent members of the Security Council and (on recommendation fo the Security Council) elects the Secretary-General and the judges of the International Court of Justice.
