Fossil fuels

From dKosopedia

Fuels which are rich in the element carbon and are derived from the decomposed remains of prehistoric organic matter. Fossil fuels include coal, oil and natural gas. Upon combusion, fossil fuels produce carbon dioxide, the most significant of of the greenhouse gases.
