Massa and Daily Kos
Massa was introduced to the Daily Kos community in a diary entry by user mikepridmore on Aug. 7, 2005. This entry was later moved to the front page by Daily Kos contributor Armando. Massa borrowed the user ID of campaign staff member Ethan Rabin in order to respond to questions posed by commenters in the entry. Commenters living in the 29th District responded enthusiastically to the introduction of the candidate. Immediate response from other members of the Daily Kos community was very positive.
New York's 29th District was targeted by Daily Kos members in 2004 as part of the Daily Kos Dozen drive to support candidates in underfunded Congressional races. Samara Barend, the Democratic candidate in 2004, received over $30,000 dollars in donations from the Daily Kos community.
