Ensolation

From dKosopedia

Ensolation is the technical term used to indicate the measured among of energy that is being delivered by the sun to the earth at any one time. While we experience the strength of the sun's rays as constant from day to day, changes in the sun and changes in the earth's distance from the sun (since its orbit is elliptical) can produce variations that make a difference in the overall temperature of the earth.
