Eliot L. Engel

Eliot Lanze Engel is a Democratic representative from the 17th district of New York. He was first elected to Congress in 1988, and before that he was a member of the New York state assembly from 1977-1988.
Engel is a former teacher who grew up in a city housing project. He and his wife Patricia have three children.
