Eddie Bernice Johnson is a Democratic Representative from the 30th district of Texas. She was first elected to Congress in 1992.
Johnson was born in Waco, TX on December 3, 1935. She became a nurse, then graduated from Texas Christian University in 1967. She was the chief psychiatric nurse and psychotherapist at the Veterans Administration hospital, Dallas. She was a member of the Texas state house of representatives, from 1972-1977, and a member of the Texas state senate from 1987-1993. She was also an administrator for the United States Department of Health, Education and Welfare from 1977-1981.
