Pennsylvania's 45th governor, inaugurated on January 21, 2003. Democrat. He was easily reelected in 2006.
Rendell was Mayor of Philadelphia from 1992-1999. The New York Times called the Philadelphia renaissance under Rendell "the most stunning turnaround in recent urban history."
He also served as Philadelphia District Attorney from 1978-1985 and as the Chairman of the DNC during the 2000 election.
He and his wife Marjorie O. Rendell, who is a Judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, have one son, Jesse.
