Biography
Democrat Earl Pomeroy currently (May, 2004) holds North Dakota's at-large seat in the House of Representatives. Mr. Pomeroy was first elected to the seat in 1992.
Mr. Pomeroy first attended Valley City State University before transferring to the University of North Dakota (UND), where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. In 1979, he received a law degree, also from UND.
In 1980, Mr. Pomeroy was elected to the State House of Representatives. He was elected State Insurance Commissioner in 1984.
Issues
During his 2004 campaign, Mr. Pomeroy spotlighted issues surrounding health care, assistance for the elderly, agricultural assistance and education.
